April 6th 2008 - Makeover Your Soul
Sunday nights are family nights for the Savage’s. At 6 pm we come together and watch a couple of our favorite TV shows, or watch a movie, or like most Sunday nights we play cards or a board game. We focus upon the priority of our family.
Most Sunday nights we include watch Ty Pennington lead a Extreme Makeover Home Edition. It is amazing that a house can be torn down and rebuilt in one week. I am always moved by the people who give themselves to help another, the outpouring of blessings from businesses and the amazing stories of transformation to families and to communities.
Friends, we are on a journey of transformation, which comes not through TY but through Jesus Christ. When we say yes to Jesus Christ the transformation begins. That transformation though is a life long journey. Jesus Christ, our Lord of our life and journey, leads us to core transformation, which means changed in form, appearance, nature, or character.
We begin a new series this weekend, titled, God’s Makeover for your Life. Our objective in teaching this series is to encourage us to partner with the core transformation that Jesus Christ is working in you and me. In this first message I am teaching to the truth of soul transformation. The Bible tells us this truth, in 1st Peter 1 NIV, 3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, 5who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
I want to answer the question of how this begins and how to keep this transforming work of Jesus Christ alive in us. I look forward to seeing you this weekend.
I also want to take this moment and express my sincere appreciation for each one of you. I am so thankful that you trust this leadership and that you are committed to the vision that God has given to me in leading this body. I also want to personally look into each one of your eyes and thanks you for serving and tithing to this body. We are together experiencing an amazing work of God.
So friends, let the makeover begin!
