May 11th 2008 - Let's Play Ball - Finding Safety in an Unsafe World
One of the most exciting events in a baseball game can be the homerun. We love to see that, although it doesn’t happen often. More than seeing the homerun, many of us will want to actually be the one to hit the homer.
When it comes to the Christian life, I want us to understand a differing view of the homerun. Every one of us have a responsibility to step up to the life plate and do the right thing. Last week, we learned that in all aspects of life’s game, we have to commit to the owner, Jesus Christ and to submit to the coaches, being the Word, the Holy Spirit and our community leadership. A homerun in life is not one that goes over the fence but it is doing what the owner is asking us to do. This is hard, because so often we want to hit the ball the way we want to, and we most definitely want to hit it over the fence.
This week I am teaching to the truth of what our posture and stance must look like and how we are to engage the game. In understanding these truths, we will understand that we will not find safety by looking to our circumstances or at the individuals who appear safe or unsafe.
So friends, let’s play ball! Join me right now in our web cast. Our Senior Pastor, Mark Savage, taught this message May 11, 2008.
