March 16th 2008 - Worship
For me, the strongest pain that I have had to endure are the one's where the situations and individuals are not what I thought they would be and realized there was nothing I could do to change it or fix it. Most often these situations ended up broken, isolated, or stagnant. Searing pain comes when we so want others to be what we want them to be and have to acknowledge that we can’t fix them, or change them, or demand them to be anything other then what they are. What do we do? What do we do with our pain? What is the answer?
A not so big secret is found in worship. We find throughout the Bible that God has given us many examples, in people, of how to respond to pain. God leads us through pain by inviting us to worship with intensity and intimacy that we can experience in no other context.
Here is the target, Offering God our worship while in pain, hurt, despair and isolation moves us from worship about God to the intimacy of worshipping a personal God. Worship includes ALL of our emotions – not just those we want to expose. For disciples of Jesus Christ, that is you and me, whom believe and have accepted Jesus Christ, there is no where else to go except to worship.
Shelley Bauer is bringing a powerful word this weekend that will help us to find intimacy with God in the midst of our pain as we practice personal, intimate and passionate worship. God heals us as we submit to Him in worship and praise.
