Have you ever found yourself doing what you really don’t want to do? Have you ever acted in ways that you really didn’t want to act? Have you been in a situation where the right thing was not what you wanted to do? The answers to these questions I think, is an obvious yes.
Like you, I have made mistakes in my actions. Like you, I have not always known what to do. Like all of us, who are followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to seek our answers from Him. He has given us His Word to lead and direct us. Another way to look at it is that he wants to help us. In His willingness to help us, He also expects that we would do the right thing…His Thing!
Often, though, we want to work through challenges on our own. We can mistakenly believe that we have the right answers, even though we have created messes from what we have thought.
What is it that makes a significant difference in the outcome of our decisions? The difference is what the Bible calls obedience, which means: Doing what Jesus directs us to do even when we don’t want to.
Friends, obedience is a powerful thing.
