A couple of years ago, a group of guys, I know, huddled together for a movie marathon watching "Band of Brothers." This is a set of movies that document a group of men who served together in war. It was amazing to watch the depth of their relationships develop. It was also interesting to watch as the film makers captured the amount of men who died because they were alone.
Friends, we began this year with the commitment that we were going to go on this journey of faith together. As spoken, the journey has high points and low points. At times it is easy and at times it is hard. The key is that we stay together and keep moving in the right direction.
This coming weekend, I am teaching to the truth that we need a band of others. Acts 2 describes the interaction of this band. Read it from the "NIV" 42They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
I have watched men and women throughout my lifetime fall, because they stood alone. Let's make decision together to seriously invite in, a band of others. Join me in listening to this message.
