What a powerful story Jesus lived. His story brought Him into our world to meet our deepest need, to implant faith, to draw us into the kingdom, to serve us deeply, to empower us (in a sense to "pay it forward") and to live the same as He had to those around us. His story brought life. His story, not yet finished, gave a clear directive to engage our world as He engaged it. So, friends what' your story? How are you engaging your neighbors? your co-workers? your customers or clients? your students? those who serve us as mechanics, at the grocery store, at Walmart or Aldi? Is your story one of self service or servanthood? Is your story one of isolation or openness? Is it survival or victory? Is it controlled contentment and security or aggressive engagement?
The Christmas story is absolutely about the birth of Jesus Christ. The story continues to capture His life, His death, His resurrection to life and His return to heaven. The story is yet unfinished, as He will return. Jesus' story also has additional volumes. Each volume has our name on it. We each have stories. How is our story reading? My anticipation, as we finish this year and move into 2008, is that we, myself included, are not living the culturally engaging life that Jesus Christ commanded. 2008 will be a year of adjustment and decision for each one of us.
Today, will you think and pray about how your story will read and ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you, and to lead you to live your life as Jesus did and does? Jesus' directive to us is that we would grow His kingdom. This directive is to each one of us. Friends…Let's "Get R' Done!"
